BFA Art Show

The BFA Art show was very interesting. I enjoyed looking at all the various pieces of work that was put in the glalery. They each stood out and had a strong characteristic about them. One that I liked was Diffusion Disillusion and the ruins of a landscape, made by Tom Hughes. This piece was interesting because of the lines that made up different shapes. It seemed like a map of lines displaying a town or city. It was a piece that you could just stare at and not get bored with it. Overall, the gallery was impressive and was not a waste of time.

Website options

These are the three websites i am thinking of creating: 1. AIDS. Having the website deal with awareness in the United States and Africa.2. Wars: Mainly Religion wars. Most if not all wars deal with religion. One trying to be dominate over the others. Eliminating them could change a significant part of the world.3. Free college tuition. Allowing people to go to school for free will help increase the economy and increase job opportunities.- WOULD DEFINITELY MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!! ~Let me know what you guys think please. ~ 

Is Blogging The Best Way to Communicate?

      I’m started to understand more of the significance of blogging and what it is geared to do. So many people have blogs and are using them to communicate with students, friends, family, and strangers. They are a way of letting out feelings about your everyday life or whatever you feel to write about. It is not something you decide to do in a day and feel that it is complete, designing blogs does take a substantial amount of time and effort to achieve a great blog. I did not know at first how blogs worked until making one myself. I am still learning how to do certain things but over all, it is coming along well. It is similar to using myspace blogs and telling viewers a poem, a story, or whatever you feel like saying, and getting to know poeple better or knowing what a friend or relative is thinking on a particular day. I never got into expressing myself to the extent of writing blogs and letting people see them, I would just do the minimum and tell them my background and profile information. After getting to take the time and sit down and write this, I’m realizing that it is not that bad to express what I think about what I’ve read and give my opinion about it.It is a great way to communicate with others and discuss back and forth about what someone has wrote on their own blog and give insight or criticism to help further their knowledge about a specific subject. It allows businesses, bosses, and other important people to get to know you better on a personal level without meeting them first. It gives them an understanding of what type of skills you may have in design or writing. Communication is a problem most of us have in telling people about ourselves and using the best word choice to display our thoughts more clearer. This is at your convenience and helps your confidence in writing so when you do talk in front of people you are calm, cool, and collected. It not only helps you get thoughts out, but for me being a graphic designer it helps me be able to design my page to fit my style and preferences. 

      In, From Blog to Business (or Vice Versa) interview with Jim Coudal, principal of Coudal Partners, Chicago, discusses how his Weblog started and to be completely honest with the viewers and show how passionate and dedicated they are to making this productive and have people keep enjoying it and coming back. Communication in their eyes is the key to greater things to come and helps understand how people talk to one another. What they look for is someone who knows what they are doing, who has good taste, someone who can take two items make a judgment on them and defend why they feel the way they do about it. Also they feel if two people are qualified for the same position, but one has the advantage of being able to write better, then that is the type of person that would be hired every time. Web sites are the way of most people’s lives and are continuing to grow each day. It helps reach people around the world and makes communication a lot easier and better on line. I feel that Jim is right in making the decisions on how people view things and how you should be able to talk and write to get your thoughts and points across to others. I feel that blogging and design are very good in communicating, they may not be the best but they are convenient and reliable. They are hands on, so you can make it the way you want and have it say what you feel, to voice your thoughts and passion for design and blogs.   

     Communication is the key to success in making a name for yourself. Through your design work or writing, it is vital for us to do all the necessities to achieve greater things in life and to be able to talk to people intelligently. Especially with graphic design, they have their own language just like other areas, that is spoken when discussing typography, layouts, etc. Without being able to communicate will slow down the process of growing and succeeding in the real world.
